Commentary
This passage describes how Jesus called His first disciples—Peter, Andrew, James, and John. They were ordinary fishermen, yet Jesus invited them to follow Him and become “fishers of men.” This means they would bring people to God, just as they once caught fish.
Their response was immediate. They left everything—their jobs, boats, and even family—to follow Jesus. This shows the power of Jesus’ call and their willingness to trust Him completely.
This passage teaches us that Jesus calls ordinary people to do extraordinary things. He invites us to follow Him wholeheartedly and participate in His mission. True discipleship requires faith, obedience, and sacrifice.
