“Be” verbs are one of the most important types of verbs in English. They show a state, condition, or identity. “Be” verbs can stand alone or work with other verbs.
Forms of “Be” Verbs:
- 
Present tense: am, is, are - I am a student.
- She is happy.
- They are friends.

Past tense: was, were - He was late yesterday.
- We were tired after the trip.
 
- 
Past participle: been (used with “have” or “had”) - I have been to Paris.
- She had been waiting for an hour.
 
- 
Present participle: being (used with another verb) - He is being careful.
- The dog is being trained.
 
Key Rules to Remember:
- Match the subject with the correct form of “be.”
- Singular subjects: He is, She is, It is
- Plural subjects: They are, We are
 
- Use the past tense forms (was, were) to talk about something that already happened.
- Add “been” for experiences or completed actions with helping verbs (have, had).
