The Hare and the Hound
📜 Script
NARRATOR:
One day, a fast hare was resting near a bush.
He had big ears and strong legs.
Suddenly, a hound came running!
NARRATOR:
The dog barked loudly and chased the hare.
🐶 HOUND (barking):
“Stop, rabbit! I’ll catch you!”
NARRATOR:
The hare jumped up and ran.
He ran through grass, over rocks, and past trees.
He was scared, but he didn’t stop.
The hound chased him, but slowly began to tire.
NARRATOR:
The hare ran faster and faster.
Finally, the dog gave up and sat down.
Another animal nearby laughed.
🦊 FOX (offscreen, teasing):
“You’re bigger and stronger.
Why couldn’t you catch that little hare?”
NARRATOR:
The hound said nothing at first.
Then he looked up and replied:
🐶 HOUND:
“I was running for fun.
The hare was running for his life.”
NARRATOR (ending):
This story teaches us:
Those who run with fear often run faster
than those who run just for fun.
