NARRATOR:
Once, there was a girl named Karen.
She was poor and had no shoes.
One day, a kind old lady adopted her.
She gave Karen food, a bed, and clothes.
NARRATOR:
One day, Karen saw red shoes in a shop.
They were bright and shiny!
She wanted them so badly.
The old lady said:

“Red shoes are not for church.”
But Karen begged and cried.
