🦁 The Donkey in Lion’s Skin
📜 The Donkey in the Lion’s Skin
Aesop’s Fable – Easy English Version
NARRATOR:
One quiet morning, a donkey was walking through the forest.
Suddenly, he found something strange lying under a tree.
It was a lion’s skin—left behind by hunters!
The donkey looked around. No one was there.
He smiled and got an idea.
🫏 DONKEY (thinking):
“If I wear this, I will look just like a real lion!
Everyone will be afraid of me!”
NARRATOR:
He carefully put on the lion’s skin.
Then he walked to a nearby stream and looked at his reflection in the water.
🫏 DONKEY (thinking):
“Wow! I look fierce and powerful. I really do look like a lion!”
NARRATOR:
Feeling proud, the donkey walked toward a nearby farm.
When the cows, goats, and sheep saw him, they gasped.
They thought he was a real lion!
They ran in all directions, frightened and shaking.
The donkey laughed to himself.
🫏 DONKEY (thinking):
“This is fun! Everyone is scared of me!”
NARRATOR:
But after a while, the donkey wanted to speak.
He opened his mouth and let out a loud sound:
🫏 DONKEY:
“Hee-haw! Hee-haw!”
NARRATOR:
The animals stopped running.
They turned around and listened closely.
🐄 🐐 🐑 ANIMALS:
“Wait a minute… That’s not a lion!
That’s just a silly donkey in a costume!”
NARRATOR:
The animals were no longer afraid.
Instead, they chased the donkey off the farm, laughing at his trick.
NARRATOR (ending):
You can wear something fancy and fool others for a while,
but your true self will always come out in the end.
It’s not clothes, but your words and actions that show who you really are.
THE END.
