📜 The Fox and the Goat
Aesop’s Fable – Easy English Version

NARRATOR:
One hot summer day, a thirsty fox was walking through the dry countryside.
The sun was high, and his tongue was dry.
He needed water—cold, clean water.

Then he saw a deep stone well in the field.
He looked inside and spotted fresh water shining at the bottom.

🦊 FOX:
“Oh! That water looks cool and sweet. I must drink some!”

NARRATOR:
Without thinking, the fox jumped into the well.
He drank and drank until his thirst was gone.

🦊 FOX:
“Ahh… That’s better!”

NARRATOR:
But when he tried to climb out, he slipped.
The walls were smooth and too high.
He was stuck.

🦊 FOX:
“Oh no! I can’t get out. What should I do?”

NARRATOR:
A few minutes later, a goat passed by.
He heard the fox and peered over the edge of the well.

🐐 GOAT:
“Hello, friend! Is the water down there good?”

🦊 FOX:
“The best I’ve ever tasted! Come down and have a drink!”

NARRATOR:
The goat didn’t stop to think.
He jumped right into the well and began drinking.

🐐 GOAT:
“Mmm! You’re right! It’s wonderful!”

NARRATOR:
But then he looked up and frowned.

🐐 GOAT:
“Wait… how do we get out of here?”

🦊 FOX:
“Don’t worry. I’ve got a plan.
Stand still, and I’ll climb on your back and jump out.
Then I’ll help pull you up.”

NARRATOR:
The goat agreed and stood still.
The fox climbed up, used the goat’s back like a ladder,
leaped out of the well… and walked away without looking back.

🐐 GOAT:
“Hey! What about me? You said you’d help!”

🦊 FOX (from above):
“You should have thought before jumping in.”

NARRATOR (ending):
Think before you act.
Quick decisions can lead to deep trouble.
Smart thinking keeps you safe.

THE END.
