🏡🐦 The Grateful Crane
📜 Script
NARRATOR:
One snowy day, an old man saw a crane caught in a trap.
He gently helped it fly free.
NARRATOR:
That night, a knock came at his door.
A young woman stood in the snow.
👧 WOMAN:
“I have no home… may I stay here?”
👴 OLD MAN:
“Of course. Come in and rest.”
NARRATOR:
She stayed to help.
She cooked and cleaned with a warm smile.
Then one day, she said:
👧 WOMAN:
“Let me weave cloth to sell.
But please… never open the door while I work.”
NARRATOR:
She went into a small room.
Clack clack! went the loom.
Days later, she came out—
with the most beautiful cloth the old man had ever seen.
NARRATOR:
He sold it at the market and bought food.
But the woman looked tired.
She went back to weave again.
NARRATOR:
The old man grew curious.
He opened the door…
Inside, he saw a crane pulling out her own feathers to weave the cloth.
NARRATOR:
The crane saw him and sighed.
🐦 CRANE (softly):
“I wanted to thank you…
but now you know the truth.”
NARRATOR:
She turned back into a bird—
and flew into the snowy sky.
NARRATOR (ending):
The old man watched her go with tears in his eyes.
He never saw her again—
but he never forgot her kindness.
THE END.
