📜 The Wolf and the Lamb
Aesop’s Fable – Easy English Version
NARRATOR:
One sunny day, a little lamb was drinking water at a quiet stream.
He stood at the bottom of a grassy hill, where the water gently flowed down.
He bent his head to drink the cool, clean water and smiled.
It was peaceful and calm.
NARRATOR:
Suddenly, a big gray wolf appeared at the top of the stream.
His eyes were sharp, and his teeth showed as he smiled cruelly.
He saw the lamb below and licked his lips hungrily.
🐺 WOLF:
“How dare you make the water dirty! I’m trying to drink!”
🐑 LAMB:
“But sir, I’m standing downstream.
The water flows from you to me.
How could I possibly make it dirty for you?”
🐺 WOLF:
“Then it must have been you who said bad things about me last year!”
🐑 LAMB:
“But… I wasn’t even born last year!”
NARRATOR:
The wolf growled and narrowed his eyes.
🐺 WOLF:
“Then it must have been your brother… or maybe your father!
Someone in your family insulted me, and I won’t forgive it!”
🐑 LAMB:
“I’m sorry, but I don’t know anything about that.
I just want to drink some water.”
NARRATOR:
But the wolf didn’t care about truth or fairness.
He wasn’t really angry—he just wanted an excuse.
So, he leaped down the hill, bared his teeth, and grabbed the little lamb.
NARRATOR (ending):
The wolf didn’t care who was right.
He only wanted to be mean.
And sometimes, those who want to do harm will find any excuse to do it.
THE END.
