Teacher script: Let’s wave together! Hello, hello! Wave to me! Yay!

*Encourage the student to copy you and wave*

Teacher action: Sing and do gestures with it! Wave, clap, spin

Let the child copy you. Repeat if engaged.

Bring out a real teddy (or puppet) and say:

Teacher action: Teddy says, ‘Hello!’ Can you say hello to Teddy?
Encourage the student to wave or respond.

Teacher script: Who’s this? It’s a dog! Let’s say: Hello, dog!
Ask student to repeat or wave — repeat with each animal.

Teacher script: Let’s clap for hello! Clap, clap! Let’s dance for hello!
Do 10 seconds of silly movement!

Teacher activity: Cover your face with hands: “Where’s teacher?”
Pop out: “Peek-a-boo! Hello!”
Ask child to do the same.

Teacher script: Can you say hello? Say “Hello, teacher!’”
If the child can’t speak yet, just get a wave and smile — praise a lot!

Teacher script: Let’s wave bye-bye! Bye-bye, dog! Bye-bye, cat!
Have student wave to each.
