🎵 “The Wolf and the Crane” 🎵
A slow-paced, thoughtful fable in song form
🎶 Verse 1
🎵 One cold evening, deep in the wood,
A hungry wolf ate more than he should.
A sharp bone stuck, and he cried in pain—
“I-I can’t breathe!” he gasped again.
🎶 Verse 2
He ran through trees, through bush and fog,
Coughing and choking like a wheezing dog.
Then by a pond, so calm and clean,
He saw the neck of a tall white crane.
🎶 Verse 3
🐺 “Please, oh please… I need some aid!”
🦢 “Will you hurt me?” the crane afraid.
🐺 “I give my word! I truly swear!”
🦢 “Then hold still—I’ll take great care.”
🎶 Verse 4
With her long beak, so smooth and fine,
She reached down deep, along his spine.
Out came the bone, sharp and thin—
The wolf could finally breathe again.
🎶 Verse 5
🦢 “Now my reward?” she asked so sweet.
🐺 “Reward?” he laughed with bared white teeth.
“You stuck your head inside my jaw—
And lived! That’s payment, after all.”
🎶 Verse 6
The crane stepped back, both stunned and hurt.
Her feathers ruffled, wings full of dirt.
🦢 “That was not the deal we made!”
🐺 “Don’t trust the wicked,” he barked and strayed.
🎶 Outro
🎵 And through the woods, the wolf did trot,
Leaving the crane with a heavy thought.
Helping the wicked, she now could see,
Might leave you lost in misery. 🌲
