Scenario #1:
Imagine you are feeling sick and need to see a doctor. Call the clinic to make an appointment. Be sure to mention your symptoms and preferred time.

Scenario #2:
You visit the doctor and need to explain how you feel. Describe your symptoms and ask about possible treatments. The doctor will respond with recommendations.

Scenario #3:
You are at the pharmacy to pick up a prescription. Ask the pharmacist about the dosage, how often to take the medicine, and any side effects.

 

Here are phrases and words categorized to help with each of your role-play scenarios:

General Phrases (Useful for all scenarios):

“Hello,”

“Excuse me,”

“Thank you,”

“You’re welcome,”

“Could you please repeat that?”

“I’m sorry, I don’t understand.”

“Could you spell that for me?”

“When is the next available appointment?”

“What are your hours?”

“How much will that cost?”

Scenario #1: Calling the Clinic

Making an Appointment:

“I’d like to make an appointment, please.”

“I need to see a doctor.”

“Do you have any openings today/tomorrow/this week?”

“I’d prefer a morning/afternoon appointment.”

“Is [time] available?”

“My name is [your name].”

“My date of birth is [your date of birth].”

“My phone number is [your phone number].”

Describing Symptoms (Briefly):

“I’ve been feeling unwell.”

“I have a fever.”

“I have a cough.”

“I have a sore throat.”

Scenario #2: Visiting the Doctor

Describing Symptoms (In Detail):

“It started [number] days ago.”

“It feels like [description].”

“The pain is [location] and [intensity].” (e.g., “The pain is in my chest and it’s sharp.”)

“I’ve also been experiencing [symptom].”

Scenario #3: At the Pharmacy

Picking Up a Prescription:
